FAQs - Behavioural Consultation
How much does it cost for a consultation?
The Dogwatcher charges a one-off flat fee of £150 (within Berkshire area).
How long does a consultation last?
However long it takes to provide guidance and instruction on how to understand and manage the behaviours causing distress. Usually a consultation lasts for approximately 2 to 4 hours.
Do I get any paperwork to refer to?
A full report based in the problems raised at the original appointment together with suggested behavioural modification methods discussed will be sent to the handler after the appointment has taken place. A lot of information is given during a consultation therefore a report allows customers to relax during the appointment knowing that a follow up document will be there to refer to as an aide memoire.
Why do the consultations need to take place at my home?
It is important to observe a dog in his natural ‘den’ environment and being in the home often allows the opportunity to see ‘problem’ behaviours in action as they can be triggered by familiar events, feelings or people.
What if I still have problems when the consultation is over?
Clients are welcome to contact me in relation to the issues raised at the original consultation so I can answer any further questions they may have or to provide moral support. Should new behavioural problems arise in future, a new consultation would need to be arranged.
Will the Dogwatcher be judging my ability to cope with my dog?
No, the Dogwatcher has the sole aim of enabling handlers to better understand their dog’s behaviour in order to achieve a more fulfilling and harmonious relationship. All consultations take place in the strictest confidence.
